FOR PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERS

Join the Service United Fund

The Service United Fund is a philanthropic community that supports service as a strategy for states and territories across the country. We launched this effort at the National Governors Association Summer Meeting in 2026. We welcome new philanthropic partners interested in helping to expand service opportunities across the country.

ABOUT THIS EFFORT

What the Service United Fund Does

At its Summer Meeting, the National Governors Association (NGA) announced a new Chair’s Initiative: Service United. With this new initiative, the NGA is calling on governors to lead in a new call to serve and challenging civil society and the private sector to join in this new effort. The goal is for states to plan, build, or expand service strategies that drive impact across three pillars: (1) support young people in entering education and the workforce, (2) bring people across lines of difference to strengthen communities, and (3) deliver on key issues such as education, public safety, housing, energy, workforce development, conservation, and mental health, among others.

The Service United Fund was set up to provide the catalytic philanthropic resources necessary to support this initiative. The fund requires that governors lead on the service strategy, while providing grants to entities that each state or territory identifies.
